Studies show that an associate degree is a common requirement for entrance and advancement in the law enforcement field. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics predicts faster than average growth for law enforcement professionals through 2015. Job openings for 911 dispatchers, security guards, correctional officers and jailers, police and sheriff patrol officers, detectives and criminal investigators, and first line managers of these professions are expected to be plentiful in Georgia.

The Early College Program is a unique opportunity for the high school student to earn college credit while also satisfying high school graduation requirements. Altamaha Technical College is here to help lead the way to a smooth, seamless college experience. To participate, high school students need to communicate with their high school counselor and coordinate admissions requirements with the College. Parental permission is also required. Program graduates receive a Law Enforcement Investigations Assistant Technical Certificate of Credit and are eligible to continue their college education in Criminal Justice Technology for a diploma or an associate degree with Altamaha Technical College.
Law Enforcement Investigations Assistant
The Law Enforcement Investigations Assistant Technical Certificate of Credit is designed to provide the student with basic knowledge and skills needed to obtain employment in local law enforcement agencies. This certificate emphasizes criminal justice, corrections, and principles of law enforcement.
