Collision Repair Career Pathway

A career in collision repair offers employment opportunities in a variety of automotive service venues as well as possibilities for self employment and small business ownership.

Courses of Study:

Introduction to Collision Repair
Introduction to Collision Repair is the prerequisite to all other courses in the Collision Repair or automotive refinish pathway. Employment opportunities in the collision repair field will be explored in this course. Students will be exposed to all areas of collision repair and automotive refinishing such as safety, metal repair, plastic repair, automotive construction, and estimate reading and writing. Basic skills in all of the above mentioned areas will be taught.

Painting and Refinishing I
The student will learn theory, as well as hands on application in a project based setting.

Painting and Refinishing II
The second course in painting and refinishing training this course will give successful completers the basic skills and knowledge to obtain an entry level position in the automotive refinish field.

Non-Structural Damage and Body Repair I
The first course in the non-structural collision repair career pathway. Students learn theory as well as hands-on applications.

Non-Structural Damage and Body Repair II
This training will give successful completers basic skills and knowledge to obtain an entry level job in the field of non-structural auto damage repair.

Mechanical and Electrical Components I
Students will learn how mechanical and electrical components are effected in a collision and how to repair or replace them after a collision.

Mechanical and Electrical Components II
The second course in the structural damage and repair career strand. This training will give successful completers basic skills and knowledge to obtain an entry level position in electrical auto damage repair.

Structural Analysis and Damage Repair I
The student will learn, through theoretical and practical applications, to analyze and restore vehicle structural damage to factory specifications.

Structural Analysis and Damage Repair II
This is the second and final course in the Structural Repair career pathway. This course will continue to prepare the student for an entry level position in a specialized area of Collision Repair.

Rising Glynn County 10th, 11th & 12th grade high school students are eligible for enrollment. GICA’s academic partners include Altamaha Technical College and the College of Coastal Georgia.
